INSTITUTE FOR TEXTILE CHEMISTRY AND MAN-MADE FIBERS (ITCF) INSTITUTE FOR TEXTILE CHEMISTRY AND MAN-MADE FIBERS (ITCF)

The Institute for Textile Chemistry and Man-Made Fibers (ITCF) is part of the German Institutes for Textile and Fiber Research Stuttgart (DITF) and employs 45 people of whom more than 30 hold an engineering or Ph.D.Chemist degree. The research topics of ITCF are: synthesis and modification of innovative polymers for fibre production, cellulose chemistry, characterization of polymers and fibres, spinning, coatings, ceramic fibres, plasma technology, finishing, process analysis, recycling, online-sensors, processing software, dyeing and printing, inkjet, ink development, UV-curing and pigment grinding&dispersion.

ITCF has done basic research in formulation of smart inks and UV-curable inks for digital printing and is an expert in adapting inkjet colours using colour management software. Moreover, ITCF has great experience in modification of inkjet printing devices according to customers demands. Due to this unique experience in pigment dispersion and ink development, ITCF was selected as a competent and strong RTD performer and will be mainly responsible for the development of stable dispersions  of functional particles and binders as well as corresponding ink formulation, the testing and ink optimisation as well as the protective coating.

The principal research staff can be identified in researchers, engineers and laboratory assistant.
