Centexbel (CTB) is the scientific and technological research centre of the Belgian textile industry and was founded  in 1950 by the Belgian professional federation Febeltex (now Fedustria) to guarantee and reinforce the competitive force of the textile industry. CTB fulfils this mission by conducting research projects about the newest evolutions in textile science and technology and their industrial applicability. Four accredited and well-equipped laboratories offer a complete series of textile analyses and support the R&D activities of Centexbel and the industry. In addition, CTB has a vast offer of services, including training session, certification, patent search, technological platforms and pilot lines, technological
advice and the centre represents the textile industry within the most important European and international standardisation organisations. Currently, CTB is involved in several European FP7 projects, some of which it is coordinating (BIOAGROTEX – 213501 and DECOCOAT - 232411). Further, CTB is coordinating “Functionalised hotmelts”, a collective European research project (a so-called CORNET project).
